Every preset in the library generates files for all 16 hardware models simultaneously. Direct MIDI install from the browser works for Fractal hardware (Chrome on desktop, via Web MIDI). Helix users download the `.hlx` and import via HX Edit.

## Confidence tiers

- **Verified (80–100 score, 2,276 amps)** — Complete schematic with all stages visible and component values readable. Parameters derived directly from circuit analysis. Minimal estimation. Examples: Hiwatt DR103, Soldano SLO-100, Fender Twin Reverb AB763.
- **Close (60–79 score, 2,764 amps)** — Most circuit stages visible, most values readable. Minor gaps filled by inference from similar circuits or documented variants. Still grounded in the circuit. Examples: Marshall JMP Super Lead 1959, JCM800 2204, Vox AC30.
- **Pipeline (0–59 score, 692 amps)** — Partial schematic or degraded source material. More estimation required. Not currently available for download on the web; in active improvement through nightly extraction batches.

## How presets are made

1. A schematic is sourced — manufacturer documentation, service manuals, or third-party circuit notes.
2. AI vision reads the schematic: component values, tube types, gain staging, tone stack topology, power supply characteristics, negative feedback, bias.
3. Parameters are mapped to each target modeler's native parameter space. Fractal amp blocks and Helix amp blocks aren't equivalent, so translations are platform-specific.
4. The extraction is scored 0–100. Complete schematics with all component values readable score high; degraded scans or partial documents score lower.
5. Native preset files (`.syx` / `.hlx`) are generated and stored.

Parameters always derive from the circuit. If a value isn't in the schematic, the confidence score reflects that.

## How Gridleak differs from other preset sources

- **Not ear-trained captures** — Kemper and Neural DSP profiles measure the transfer function of a specific physical unit on a specific day. Gridleak reads the reference circuit — what the designer drew before any of that happened.
- **Not someone's best guess** — Factory presets and forum knob-chart presets are often approximations built by a human listening and matching. Gridleak parameters derive from the schematic values themselves.
- **Not locked to one modeler** — Every amp in the library is available as native files for all 5 firmware platforms.

A Gridleak preset will not sound exactly like a specific aged unit, because component drift and tube wear aren't in the schematic. It's the best starting point available without owning the amp itself.
